Before starting Visual Acuity, ask your patient- Do you wear distance glasses?
If the patient wears glasses for distance, put them on for Visual Acuity and select: WITH EYEGLASSES
If the patient does not wear glasses, select: WITHOUT EYEGLASSES
You are now ready to proceed with Visual Acuity.
To test the RIGHT EYE (OD)- Patient must cover his/her left eye.
To test the LEFT EYE (OS)- Patient must cover his/her (right) eye.
Start at 20/40 line:
If the patient can read more than half of the line move down to the next line.
If the patient cannot read more than half the letters on the line, move up to the next line.
Options- You can randomize the letters on the chart if you feel that the patient has memorized the selected row OR Re-Do Visual Acuity altogether (see below)
